About Our Aquatic Programs

California Pools of Hope, Inc., aquatic programs are therapeutic in nature because our pools are kept between 91 to 94 degrees.

Our aquatic programs provide a relaxing and soothing environment for mental and physical healing. The buoyancy of the water provides the prefect anti-stress environment for movement using the water's resistance to build muscle strength, increase range of motion and flexibility. Aquatic exercise/therapy is great for people who find weight bearing exercise difficult (or painful) on dry land.

CHILDREN SERVICES
All children services are provided through the ‘Moovin’ and Groovin’ program which includes services for both disabled and non-disabled children.

WELLNESS SERVICES
Family Day, which promotes inclusion by inviting family members to participate in CPH aquatic exercise classes with our members.

Brown Bag Lunch Program – California Pools of Hope, Inc., provides monthly health and wellness education sessions to program participants throughout the year. The sessions provide health and safety education on various topic such as Alzheimer’s, nutrition, healthy aging, safety and more. Program participants are provided a free lunch as well.

Why Pool Therapy?

Pool Therapy

One in every five Americans is affected by a disability. The leading cause of disability in the United States is arthritis, a disease, which often appears with age, however, disabilities due to birth defects or chronic disease; and accidents resulting in brain or spinal cord injury are extremely prevalent and life altering. With the population aged 65 and older expected to double in the next three decades, our communities will see more elderly living longer with their disabilities.

Normal exercise venues or activities are often not welcoming options for the physically, or mentally, disabled. CPH facility is equipped with accessible ramps and lifts for those who are wheelchair bound or have limited mobility. We also provide water wheelchairs for easy access to therapy.

Water exercise, in particular, encompasses all the components of fitness: cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance and flexibility. When done regularly, water exercise can help reduce body fat and is extremely beneficial in the prevention and treatment of heart disease, strokes and orthopedic conditions. It improves circulation, strengthens muscles, reduce pain and enables participants to gain maximum benefits from exercise while substantially reducing risk of injury.
